About Margaret
Born in Stockport Cheshire 1st November 1920 and after attending Stockport High School she went on to become a student of Manchester School of Art.
Throughout her 87 long years she painted continuously and whilst experimenting with oils and acrylics her passion remained with water colour.
In later years she gained inspiration from Lancashire born artist Alan Bailey to develop control of the wet-in-wet technique, to use the controlled wash with comparable skill. Her subjects mainly capture images of the great British countryside.
She exhibited locally in Danesford and her beloved Rainow where she ended her days in December 2007.
Her final exhibtion was held postumously in Rainow Church on 3rd January 2008 following her funeral which was attended by Sir Nicholas Winterton.
